Common Woodruff - a native (Asperula conferta)
Family: Rubiaceae (Coprosma, bedstraw family).
Native of Eastern Australia.
Occurrence: Scattered.
Identification:
- the leaves are in rings of 5 or 6
- the flowers are white with a distinct floral tube (i.e. the base of the flower is tubular)
- the flowers are conspicuous.
Similar species: It resembles bedstraws. It differs in the more conspicuous white flowers which have a distinct floral tube.
Name: Asperula: from the Latin asper: rough.
