Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).
Native of Australia.
Occurrence: Recorded for the east side of Mt Alexander.
Identification:
It seldom sets flowers. I have not seen it in flower, however these would be dark brown.
It differs from a rush in that it tends to form dense colonies. Rushes generally are tussock forming. The flower structure of rushes and sedges are also markedly different.
It is desirable that this plant be found in flower, to make a positive identification.
