Occurrence. Rare. Soft Water-fern has been recorded at Wattle Gully, Norwood Hill, Elphinstone, Barkers Creek and Barfold.
The leaflets of the barren fronds are much smaller towards the base and widely separated.
The leaflets are attached to the leaf-stalk by short stalks.
The fertile fronds have long, slender leaflets. These are dark coloured and have a shrivelled appearance.
