Austral Hound's-Tongue - a local native (Cynoglossum australe)
Family: Boraginaceae (Borage family).
Occurrence: Uncommon
Identify by:
- rosette of basal leaves that feel rough to touch
- clusters of small white or occasionally blue flowers
- seeds have numerous barbed spines and a winged rim (by which it differs from Mysotis which has wrinkled seeds).
Similar species: Sweet Hound's-tongue (Hackelia suaveolons)
