Dark Flat-sedge -native (Cyperus sanguinolentus)
Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).
Native to Australia, Asia, Africa.
Occurrence: swampy land. Uncommon.
Identification:
- it is a medium sedge to about half a metre.
- the leaves are shorter to as long as the flowering stalks
- the bracts on the flowersare dark coloured with pale edges, often giving the flower clusters a stripy appearance
- one to three green leafy bracts arise from the base of the flower clusters, these bracts are longer than the flower clusters.
