Family: Sapindaceae.

Native.

Occurrence: Scattered. Along rocky creek banks.

Hop bushes may have separate male and female flowers as well as bisexual flowers. The fruit have inconspicuous or conspicuous wings (as in Slender Hop-bush). The winged fruit have a resemblence to hops, hence the common name "hop-bush".

Identification:

Recorded at Glenluce. The population at Kalimna Point my be descended from planted specimens.

Name. Dodonaea: after Rembert Dodoens, 1517-1599, a Belgian botanist.
