Sticky Hop-bush - native (Dodonaea viscosa subsp spatulata)

Family: Sapindaceae.

Native.

Occurrence: Scattered. Mostly on rocky outcrops e.g. "Mt Tarrengower and Mt Alexander.

Hop bushes may have separate male and female flowers s well as bisexual flowers. The fruit have inconspicuous or conspicuous wings (as in Sticky Hop-bush). The winged fruit have resemblence to hops, hence the common name "hop-bush".

Identification:

• its leaves are typically about 5cm long, and the length: width ratio is 3.5: 1 or more.
• the fruit have conspicuous wings
• it is a medium to tall shrub.
