Gagea - introduced (Gagea affin. foliosa)

Family: Liliaceae (Lily family).

Gageas are native to Europe and Asia.

Occurrence: Rare. Single record from Colles Road area in 1981, near the gun club.

Identification:

• it has yellow flowers
• it appears to have 6 petals (3 petals plus 3 sepals)
• the stems are branched and leafy.

It differs from Yellow Star in the usually branched stem and the leaves along the stem.

This is the only Victorian record for this lily.

"affin" with affinity to i.e. this species has affinties to G. foliosa.
