Thatch Saw-sedge - a native (Gahnia radula)
Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).
Native of south-eastern Australia.
Occurrence: Damp forest flats. Most of the Castlemaine-Maldon forests are too dry for this species.
Identification:
- it is a leafy plant with erect leaves fom 0.5 to 1 metre.
- the leaves exceed the flowers
- the flower clusters are dense, erect and black
