Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).
Native of South Africa.
Occurrence: damp areas.
Identification:
- it is a small sedge growing to about 5cm, but sometimes less
- the flowers have awns about the same length as the body of the glumes, so that the flowers have a spiky appearance.
An environmental weed.
