Awned Club-rush -introduced (*Isolepis hystrix)

Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).

Native of South Africa.

Occurrence: damp areas.

Identification:

• it is a small sedge growing to about 5cm, but sometimes less
• the flowers have awns about the same length as the body of the glumes, so that the flowers have a spiky appearance.

An environmental weed.
