Erect Chickweed - a weed (*Moenchia erecta)

Family: Caryophyllaceae (Chickweed family).

Native of Europe.

Occurrence: A common weed in woodland, bushland creek flats, granite areas etc.

Identification:

• it is a small (15 cm) annual
• it is hairless
• the narrow leaves are in pairs
• the white petals are about half the size of the surrounding sepals
• the sepals have white, translucent edges.

It is an environmental weed.
