Family: Phytolaccaceae.

Native of Tropical America.

Occurrence: In Central Victoria most records have been on granite e.g. Mt Alexander where it is an environmental weed.

Identification:

The fruit are poisonous. Inkweed is a troublesome weed in northern coastal N.S.W.

Photo 1R and 2R: The ripe fruit and unripe fruit. Harcourt North - Sedgwick Road. The unripe fruit are green. They will turn black as they ripen. Mt Alexander.
