Silky Plantain - introduced (*Plantago bellardii)

Family: Plantaginaceae (Plantain family).

Native of Europe and Asia.

Occurrence: Generally uncommon but is sometimes locally abundant in grassland e.g. Nuggetty (Maldon) and Gowar (St Arnaud).

Identification:

• it is a small (to about 10cm high) annual plantain
• it is densely hairy.

The copious hairs make this a distinctive plantain.
