Plums - introduced (*Prunus) species

Family: Rosaceae (Rose family).

Native of Europe & Asia.

Occurrence: Scattered, often near townships and old house sites.

Identification: There are several species of plum that grow as weeds.

• the fruit is a cherry-sized or larger plum
• the leaves may be green or purple
• the flowers are pink or white
• the fruit is a cherry plum or plum.

Plums and Cherry-plums are widely grown, and these may be spread from garden refuse, by animals or from discarded stones.
