Black Locust - introduced (*Robinia pseudoacacia)
Family: Fabaceae (Pea family).
Native of North America.
Occurrence: Scattered.
Identification:
- Black Locust is a thorny tree
- the leaves are divided into leaflets; the leaflets are several centimetres long
- it is deciduous
- it has sprays of white pea-flowers.
Black Locust is sometimes planted in gardens and as a street tree. It spreads by means of seeds and by suckers.
