Family: Salicaceae. (Willow family)

Native.

Occurrence: Along major streams, where often planted.

I have made little attempt to date to sort out the willows that are planted or have colonised the local streams.

Most are declared noxious weeds and are listed as Regionally Restricted in central Victoria. They are also environmental weeds.

Photos: Leaves. Salix alba. 2: Salix babylonica is an easily recognised species. It has little tendency to become a weed. 3: The willow lined streams are (or were) a common sight along the Coliban and Campaspe Rivers.
