Water Plantain - native (Alisma plantago-aquatica)
Family: Alismataceae
Wetland plant. Abundant at Bells Swamp after flooding.
Identification:
- it is a wetland plant
- flowers are on branched sprays, with 3 white petals.
- the leaves on long narrow stalks which widen to broad leaves
- the seeds are in rounded clusters.
The leaves have a resemblance to some plantains.
The seeds of the related Star Fruit (Damasonium minus) are star-like, not rounded.
