Rough Star-hair - native (Astrotricha linearis subsp. 1)

Family: Araliaceae

Locally restricted to along the water channel at Elphinstone. It also grows in Gippsland.

This is a subspecies of Rough Star-hair. The subspecies has not yet been formally named or described.

Identification:

• it is an erect shrub
• the flowers are in sprays
• the flowers have 5 white petals
• the leaves are slender (and hence linearis).

It is called "star hair" because of the star-shaped hairs on the leaf under surface and on young branches.
