Brown-clubbed Spider-orchid - native (Caladenia phaeoclavia)

Family: Orchidaceae (Orchid family).

Native of Vic, ACT and NSW.

Identification:

• it is a greencomb spider orchid
• the sepals end in brown, elongated clubs.

This species was formerly included in Caldenia dilatata. Caladenia tentaculata has also been recorded in the district. Its sepals do not terminate in clubs. Caladenia para has also been recorded at Lauriston. It is a smaller species, and may merely be a depauperate sample of Caladenia phaeoclavia.
