Downy Dodder-laurel - a native (Cassytha pubescens)

Family: Lauraceae (Laurel family).

Native.

Rare. Recorded by A.C. Beauglehole for Fryers Ridge. I have not seen it growing locally.

Identification:

• the plant is a climbing plant, twining through shrubs
• it is more robust than Slender Dodder-laurel and less robust than Coarse Dodder-laurel
• the twining stems attach themselves to the supporting plant by suckers
• the stems and fruit are covered with short downy hairs.
