Plants of the Castlemaine district

White Everlasting - native (Chrysocephalum baxteri)

Home..... Menu..... Common name index..... Scientific name index..... Glossary ..... Daisies

Family: Asteraceae (Daisy Family).

Native.

Other names: Fringed Everlasting.

Occurrence: Rare. Known locally for a single site on Crocodile Reservoir Track.

It is easily recognised by the white petal-like radiating bracts.

As in other everlasting daisies, the bracts surrounding the flowers are coloured, and resemble petals. Unlike petals they do not wither after flowering.

I have not seen the local plants for many years. If found, they warrant critical examination.
