Common Eutaxia - native (Eutaxia microphylla)

Family: Fabaceae (Pea family).

Native of Australia.

Common Eutaxia may be a spreading prostrate shrub or a small bushy shrub. It is uncommon locally, where it is usually a grassland plant.

Identify by:

• the small paired leaves; each pair of leaves is at right angles to the two neighbouring pairs
• the distinctive spreading prostrate habit (of prostrate plants).

Eutaxia: good order, discipline, referring to the regular leaf arrangement; microphylla: small leaves.

Eutaxia (E. diffusa) is a shrub. It resembles a shrubby Common Eutaxia except that the leaves are oval.
