Gazanias - introduced (*Gazania linearis)

Family: Asteraceaee (Daisy family).

Native of South Africa.

Occurrence: Locally abundant on roadsides and nature strips. Gazanias are widely planted, often on roadsides. They are increasing in abundance, and have potential to become a major environmental weed.

Identification:

• the colourful, usually orange, daisy flowers are distinctive
• the plant is tufted, with long (to 30 cm) narrow green leaves. The leaves may be lobed.
