Elphinstone Grevillea - native (Grevillea obtecta)

Family: Proteaceae (Protea family).

Native.

Restricted locally to south of Castlemaine, from Taradale to south of Vaughan, and as far south as Lauriston.

Identification:

• it is a a prostrate shrub
• it has pinkish toothbrush flowers.
• the leaves are lobed and indented, to almost smooth.

VROTS: rare. Nominated under the Fauna and Flora Guarantee Act.

It is remarkable in the leaf variation - in size and degree of indentation, even in the one plant.

Although called the Elphinstone Grevillea, its stronghold is further south.
