Scented Groundsel - native (Senecio odoratus)
Native to eastern Australia.
Occurrence: Uncommon. Found in higher rainfall areas e.g. Taradale.
Family: Asteraceae (Daisy Family).
Identification:
- it is an sprawling plant to about a metre
- it has yellow petals which are longer than, and not wider than, the green surrounding leaves (bracts).
- there are less than 14 surrounding floral leaves (the bracts)
- all of the florets in the flower are bisexual (i.e. have seeds and anthers)
- the leaves are stem-clasping and mostly toothed.
