Fairies' Aprons - native (Utricularia dichotoma)
Occurrence: Grows in wet places.
A native.
Other names: Single Bladderwort.
It is a carnivorous plant. The submerged leaves develop bladders which trap small water creatures and digest them.
Recognise by
- it grows in swampy places
- the flower has a broad lobe (the fairies' apron) and another much smaller lobe
- the larger petal has a white or yellow marking at the base
- the flowers are on slender wiry stems.
