Stemless Thistle - introduced (*Onopordum acaulon)
Family: Asteraceae (Daisy family).
Native of southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
Occurrence: Uncommon.
Identification:
- the spiny leaves are almost prostrate and greyish in colour
- the flowers are stemless, and are at the centre of the basal leaves.
It is a noxious weed and listed as Regionally Restricted in central Victoria.
